Fall in Love with the Outdoors

February is American Heart Health Month and a perfect time to fall in love! How about falling in love with the outdoors? Recent studies have shown that physical activity in the U.S. is down by 32%, so 9Health Fair and Get Outdoors Colorado have teamed up to bring you fun and new ways to enjoy the outdoors and get active! Not only will exercising outside give your body an opportunity to improve cardiovascular health and overall fitness, you’ll also get a firsthand look at all of the beauty that Colorado has to offer.
To go along with Heart Health Month, Get Outdoors Colorado has selected two favorite outdoor options: the Trickster Tales class organized by Boulder County Parks and Open Space, and the Emerald Mountain Snowshoe Tour in Steamboat Springs from Yampatika Winter Nature Tours.  Both activities are great opportunities to get outside, engage your brain, and keep your body (and heart!) healthy and active.
Get Outdoors Colorado is a nonprofit partner collaborative dedicated to helping people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities get outside and live healthy, active lifestyles – and find an adventure or two! Get Outdoors Colorado created a free, online resource where you can find your next outdoor experience. Explore the site to find a comprehensive list of outdoor activities happening all around the state. Some activities currently featured are snowy hikes, snow shoeing, skiing, and educational and volunteer opportunities. Search by location, activity preference, calendar date, or skill level, then click on the activity to learn more.  The site will even email you a reminder to get outside and fall in love with the outdoors! Don’t let the cold air stop you from activating your heart and health with some trail hiking, skiing or snow shoeing this month!
