Colorado’s Largest Celebration of Health
With more than 32 years of senior-level administration experience in health and education-related industries, Jim Goddard was named the President and CEO of 9Health Fair in November 2006. Prior to 9Health Fair, Jim served as President/CEO of the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the Arthritis Foundation for five years. A native of Oregon, Jim relocated to Denver 25 years ago to develop the Hall of Life Health Education Center (now called “Expedition Health”) at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. Goddard brought to fruition the expanded education and exhibit center that became the most attended health education center in the country.
Jim began his career as a hospital administrator in Portland, Oregon, during which time he served as assistant administrator of Ancillary Services and Project Director for development of the new facility for Mount Hood Medical Center. Jim holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Education from the University of Oregon and a Master of Healthcare Administration from the University of Minnesota.
He is an active member of the community, serving as: Member, Rotary Club of Denver; Member, Wellness Committee, Littleton Public Schools; Access Denver Class of 2009, Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce; Member, International Bid Committee and Co-Chair of the Volunteer Committee for SportAccord Denver 2009, Metro Denver Sports Commission; Member, International Society of Olympic Historians (he has attended eight Olympic Games); Volunteer, British Virgin Islands Olympic Committee, 1997 to present; Emeritus Director, Colorado Wildlife Federation; Volunteer, Littleton YMCA, basketball coach 2004-08; and Volunteer, U.S. Olympic Festival 1995. An avid cyclist, hiker, photographer and outdoor enthusiast, he has two sons, Wyatt and Sawyer.
Marte Meyer is the Vice President of 9Health Fair. Before coming to 9Health Fair, Marte spent 26 years at Kaiser Permanente of Colorado in a variety of roles including staff physician assistant, operations manager, Director of Emergency Services, consulting principal and a number of other administrative positions. Marte has a Bachelor of Arts in Advertising from Michigan State University, received his physician assistant training at Wake Forest University and has an MBA from the University of Colorado. He serves on community boards including the Glendale YMCA and the advisory board of the Red Rocks Community College Physician Assistant Program.
Marte enjoys spending time with his family and likes to work out and play golf. He also plays banjo in several bluegrass bands including Kantankerous and Loose Cannon.
Margarita is the Director of Client Services for 9Health Fair. In this position, Margarita manages the overall operational and logistical support for all new and existing 9Health Fair locations, and maintains communication with the volunteer leaders who coordinate the 9Health Fairs in their communities. Margarita moved to Colorado in 1998 from her hometown of Albuquerque, New Mexico. She graduated with a B.S in Psychology and an M.S. in Community Health Education from the University of New Mexico. She has more than 10 years of experience in behavioral research, research administration and planning and evaluating community health programs. Margarita enjoys cooking, dancing and spending quality time with family and friends.
Cindy is the Director of Health and Wellness for 9Health Fair. She is responsible for the Medical Department, which maintains the medical integrity of the community, family and adult health fairs. Cindy works closely with our Medical Advisory Committee and other volunteer health professionals to develop 9Health Fair protocols to uphold our endorsements from the Colorado Nurses Association, Colorado Medical Society and the Colorado Health and Hospital Association.
She is a member of the Colorado Nurses Association, DNA 30 Advanced Practice Nurses and the Denver Cherry Creek rotary. A Colorado native, Cindy enjoys scuba diving, golf, volunteering, exercising and traveling.
Brad Brunz oversees all aspects of the fundraising program, including major donor fundraising, direct mail, grants and all online solicitations. Brad grew up in a military family where his father was a pilot in the USAF and served two tours in Vietnam flying B-52s. Prior to 9Health Fair, Brad worked for U.S. Senator Bob Kerrey from 1990 through 1995 including his race for the presidency in 1992. Shortly thereafter, Brad worked for U.S. Senator Ben Nelson from 1995 to 1997 before attending graduate school at both Georgetown University and George Washington University where he received his master's degree in 1999. Brad completed his undergraduate degree from the University of Nebraska and also studied at Oxford University in England as well as completed a research project at Pepperdine University in Malibu. After receiving his master's degree, Brad was a State Lobbyist for US West/Qwest before going on to become a Federal Lobbyist for all of the California and Nevada Credit Unions, at which time he was based both in L.A. and San Francisco. For the past three and a half years, Brad had been in charge of all Major Donor Fundraising for World Vision in the Rocky Mountain States. Brad has lived in Denver for the last twelve years, where he continues to be an Adjunct Professor of Political Science and American Government at Metro State University and Community College of Denver.
As Director of Finance and Administration for the organization, Dave graduated from Texas A&M University with a B.A. in Economics and an M.B.A. in Accounting. He started his accounting career in Houston, Texas with an international public accounting firm. He also worked in the oil and gas industry in Houston. Dave moved to Denver in the early eighties and was controller for a large retail company for many years. He has served as Treasurer on several local non-profit boards of directors during the past 20 years.
Dave and his wife live in Lakewood and they both greatly enjoy hiking in Colorado, gardening and traveling to National Parks throughout the country. Dave strongly believes in the mission of 9Health Fair and the help it provides to the community.
Dain wants to live in a world where one's health is realized to be the most valuable of gifts and people invest in it like their very lives depend on it because, well... it DOES! As the Director of Information Technology, Dain feels his life's work has led him to this position. His college degree is actually in exercise science but his career in IT started with a curiosity of computers that ultimately led to multiple certifications and various positions in the IT field over the past 15 years. From construction companies to medical practices, Dain's passion for technology and ability to implement cost-effective technical solutions appropriately is a welcomed addition to the team. When he's not speaking geek, you can find him supporting his three teenage sons, spending time with his wife, lifting heavy things or photographing the world around him.
Sarah Mooney has enjoyed 27 years in volunteer engagement and administration. She most recently returned to her native Colorado after spending four years in Clear Lake, Iowa where she served as the director of the Clear Lake Historical Society and founded Clear Lake’s first living history museum. Prior to her work in historic preservation, Sarah directed volunteer efforts in conservation at the Nature Conservancy in Colorado and Oregon and as a national consultant to TNC in Washington D.C. and Oklahoma. Sarah also worked with volunteers at Jefferson County Open Space and the Bluff Lake Nature Center at the former Stapleton Airport.
Sarah earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Colorado, Boulder and her Master of Environmental Policy from the University of Denver. Sarah enjoys everything about the outdoors, from recreation to critter counts. She can most often be found casting on a river or lake or completely covered in dirt in the garden. Sharing her passions with school children by volunteering in the classroom or on site and with seniors at centers and homes connects her to people of many generations. Sarah enjoys family time with her husband Dan and children Christopher and Lauren.
Sarah is thrilled to be a part of 9Health Fair family where “volunteers are the very heartbeat of the organization and where people take care of each other by inspiring them to take care of themselves.”
In 2001, Dianne joined 9Health Fair as Director of Special Events and Projects, planning special and fundraising events and organizing free breast health clinics for uninsured and underserved communities. She created a bilingual breast cancer education calendar that continues today as an educational tool and celebration of survivorship of men and women whose fight against breast cancer demonstrates that the disease does not discriminate between age, gender, ethnicity or lifestyle. Dianne’s mother, a 43-year survivor, was the first “Miss November”.
Today, Dianne is the Director of Business Development, recruiting new 9Health Fair sites and is in charge of broadening the outreach of 9Health Fair throughout Colorado and neighboring states. She is staff liaison to the Arapahoe/Douglas District and the Central Mountain region, and is a statewide “trouble-shooter,” helping sites resolve unique challenges. Dianne is a “Phoenix”, having returned to college after her children were grown and completing a B.S. in Business Administration at the University of Phoenix in Denver. She is a member and past president of the Lions Club of Denver where she has been honored as a Melvin Jones Fellow. She also sits on the Board of the Rocky Mountain Lions Eye Institute Foundation.
Dianne’s hobbies include tennis, dancing, scuba diving, skiing and cooking. A native of New Jersey, Dianne and her family enjoy the gifts of living in Colorado, although she has been known to occasionally proclaim “Colorado would be absolutely perfect if it only had an ocean!”
Marla Rodriguez leads communications and sponsorship efforts for one of Colorado’s most loved non-profits, 9Health Fair. Starting in January 2010, she coordinates all of the promotion, marketing and outreach for the organization. Previously, Rodriguez served as the manager of public relations and marketing at Emily Griffith Opportunity School. Rodriguez spent 17 years in sports public relations, including at the University of Denver (2000-05). She was named to the NCAA Men's Final Four Media Coordination Committee and Rodriguez' 1999-00 women's basketball media guide cover was judged best in the nation.
An active member of the community, Rodriguez has facilitated programs for Colorado Youth at Risk, a drop-out prevention program, and is the former Board Chair for the Open Media Foundation. Born in Colorado Springs, CO, Rodriguez earned a bachelor's degree in journalism from Iowa State University and a master's degree in sports administration from St. Thomas University (Miami, Fla.). She is an avid sports fan, a yoga practitioner and has little white dog named Koji.
Becky has been the Executive Assistant at 9Health Fair since September, 2005. She provides administrative support for the President and CEO as well as the Development, Communications and Sponsorship departments. Prior to 9Health Fair she worked at Morris Animal Foundation as an Administrative Assistant to the Vice President of Development.
A native of Pueblo, she has also lived in California prior to returning to Denver 10 years ago. Her time away from work is spent camping and fishing in our beautiful Colorado Mountains with her two cocker spaniels, Mia and Milo.
Ashley graduated from the University of Wyoming with a degree in Communications and Public Relations. She worked in marketing for a commercial real estate firm in Arizona after graduation. The desire to be closer to family brought her back to her native Colorado where she worked in Election Administration until January 2013 when she joined the 9Health Fair team. She enjoys live music in small venues, attempting do-it-yourself projects and entertaining at home.
Beth is a part-time nurse in the Health and Wellness Department at 9Health Fair. Her role is the medical and wellness adviser for the Family 9Health Fairs in the fall. Prior to this, Beth managed the early Patient Navigation Project for 9Health Fair. Also, as a social worker, she managed a Teen Parenting Program for Denver Public Schools for seven years. She was born and raised in New York, but moved to Denver in 1980. She loves running, being outside and traveling. Her most recent trip was to Italy!
Stacey helps with the organization's medical programs, including managing the Interactive Education Program and following up with 9Health Fair participants to discuss their blood results. Prior to 9Health Fair, Stacey was a travel nurse and most recently worked at Rose Medical Center in the float pool and on the orthopedic unit as a staff nurse. She graduated from ASU in Tempe with a BSN degree, and left Arizona to be a travel nurse specializing in cardiac, oncology and medical/surgical nursing. Stacey grew up in New Mexico but planted herself in Denver after traveling here as a nurse and falling in love with the area. She loves running and enjoys anything outdoors such as hiking and skiing. Any chance she gets, she travels...especially to places near an ocean!
Bobbie has been a part of the 9Health Fair for more than 20 years both as a volunteer and as an employee. Her nursing experiences include the ICU, surgery, rehab and school nursing. Bobbie is on the board of directors for Lalmba, a non-profit organization with medical clinics and orphanages in Africa. Her hobbies include enjoying life and traveling with her husband, Pat, to visit their five children worldwide.
Virginia is the Community Outreach Coordinator for 9Health Fair. She is a seasoned communications consultant and broadcaster with more than 20 years of radio and TV experience. She became an EMMY nominee of the National Academy of Television and Arts in 2005 for her job as news producer. Since her days in radio and TV, Virginia has developed a passion for educating and engaging communities by working face-to-face with a vast array of community leaders and members. She also believes in utilizing existing marketing channels to increase exposure of our health programs in the community.
Virginia is a volunteer donor on the National Marrow Donor Program Registry (NMDP) and a strong advocate for Breast Cancer survivorship education. She is fluent in Spanish and English, and has knowledge of German and Portuguese. Her flawless Spanish skills granted her access to the White House, under the Obama administration for a live presidential translation. Virginia enjoys running 5Ks, hiking, spinning and researching psychology-related topics.
Donna has been a valuable part of 9Health Fair for more than four years. After retiring, Donna joined 9Health Fair as a front desk support volunteer in 2009. She then became a part-time front desk receptionist for 9Health Fair in 2011 and shares the week with Edith Thompson. Donna is a Registered Nurse and has worked as a RN for 40 years. Donna has also volunteered at many fair sites over the past 20 years and knows the value and resources 9Health Fair volunteers provide to their communities. Donna enjoys hiking, walking, reading, going to the gym, attending the theater and concerts.
Terri is a Denver, Colorado native and serves as the Accounting and Administrative Assistant for 9Health Fair. She previously worked for 17 years as Administrative Assistant and Bookkeeper for a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, specializing in helping those in need within our community with things such as rent, utilities and food. Terri also has 17 years of experience in the banking field working in many different capacities. Terri and her husband, Rick have been married since 1991 and enjoys visiting breweries to sample craft beer.
Kimberly received her Bachelor of Science degree in 1999 from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Kimberly brings to 9Health Fair a variety of nursing experience. Her career began in Denver as a vascular surgery nurse, and her other experiences include cardiac surgery, medical surgery and kidney transplant procedures. In her spare time Kimberly enjoys traveling. Her most recent trips include Australia, France, Monaco and Spain.
Dave is the organization's Manager of Operations and Logistics. In this role, he manages 9HealthFair's warehouse, supplies and inventory processes. Dave's background includes many years in the health and safety field, including understanding OSHA compliance and guidelines. Before joining 9Health Fair, Dave worked for a landscaping company as their health and safety manager and at the Rocky Mountain Arsenal wildlife refuge as an air monitors specialist detecting high and low level chemical exposures. In his personal time, Dave enjoys visiting the Denver museum, collecting fossils, hunting and cooking wild game.
Melody is an Estes Park, Colorado native who serves as 9Health Fair's Client Services Program Coordinator. In this position, she assists in organizing and implementing the In the Community 9HealthFairs throughout the year. She also assists in coordinating logistics and maintaining communication between 9Health Fair and all of the program sites. Melody started working with 9Health Fair as a volunteer. She graduated with a B.A. in Economics with a minor in Business from the University of Colorado. Previously, she has worked with medical software, a job that took her to all 50 states. Among her many hobbies she enjoys snowboarding, hiking, movies and traveling. She once scuba-dived throughout the South Pacific!
Yanchun is the organization's part-time IT Coordinator. Her main role is being the administrator and developer for 9Health Fair's customer relationship management system, Salesforce. She enjoys working with technology to help meaningful causes such as the mission of 9Health Fair. Before joining the organization, Yan led a semi nomadic life that took her to more than 40 countries. She is a SOLO-certified Wilderness First Responder and makes documentaries through her production company, Waterdrop Films.
Edith has been with 9Health Fair for 19 years. She started out as a volunteer who helped out at various fairs. She then took on the responsibility of site coordinator, making important decisions and overseeing entire fairs. In 1998, she became a District Coordinator for Aurora, and in 2009, she became the Family9Health Fair Adviser. Edith also manages the front desk at 9Health Fair on a part-time basis. She enjoys walking, reading and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Meryl received her degree in music therapy at Radford University and completed her internship with Musicworx of California and the Resounding Joy nonprofit organization. While attending Radford, Meryl organized and trained volunteers for the annual Special Olympics which was held at the University. Meryl had the privilege of being the sole music therapist at All Children's Hospital in St. Petersburg, FL. In this position, she facilitated therapy sessions with hospitalized patients and their families and gained volunteer management and special event experience. Meryl continues to provide music therapy sessions to patients at St. Anthony Hospital using her violin, guitar and voice. Meryl enjoys teaching and playing music, volunteering with the Junior League of Denver and spending time with family and friends. Meryl and her husband, Brett, love all outdoor activities whether they are at the mountains or the beach.
